Markham, Ontario
For this project QUINN worked with architect Taylor Smyth David Olson to design a community centre in Markham. Program considerations were given to an integrated GO station, a skateboard park, and universal accessibility to the facility. QUINN designed a site plan that integrated and preserved existing vegetation while creating an organized design. The firm used a multitude of native plant species which allows the site to benefit from the surrounding natural features in addition to promoting biodiversity. To complement the modern architecture of the building the firm instituted a hierarchy of planting heights. Plantings include groundcovers and ornamental grasses that wrap the prominent drop off circle. QUINN prepared the site plan approval, in addition to costing, building, permit, tender, and construction drawings.
