This landscape garden was developed as an active part of the healing environment for the Region of Peel Long Term Care Facility. The garden creates spaces that are both engaging and therapeutic, accommodating the diverse backgrounds and needs of the residents, families and staff. The project incorporates group areas as well as small-scale meditation and therapy spaces allowing for a variety of activities for a range of interests and abilities. Courtyards within the facility invite social activity and, once mature, will provide lush contemplative surroundings. Landscape spaces are structured to work together to create harmonious experiences of sights, scents, sounds and textures. Site furniture, lighting, and plantings are selected to provide comfortable settings for visitors and patients alike. Scope of services included design development, contract documents and implementation.
