Founded in 1953 as a private hospital, the Rekai Centre became the first multilingual, non-profit nursing home in Canada. Today, it is located in the heart of the City as part of a neighborhood Master Plan and has transformed into a long-term health facility.
The QUINN designed landscape pays homage to the past by incorporating historic stone walls as feature elements and links the site to its wider context by situating a grove of trees that extend to an adjacent city park. Through thoughtful planning and the careful use of native plant material calculated to look attractive in all seasons, the environment aspires to be as inspirational, culturally sensitive and responsive as the Centre itself.
